View a point cloud

Load a PLY or XYZ point cloud and report its point count, bounding box and whether it carries per-point colour, for the viewer on this page to orbit around. Nothing is uploaded.

Input

View a point cloud reads a PLY or XYZ file and shows how many points it holds, their bounding box, and whether each carries its own colour. That feeds the orbiting viewer on the page. Only those two point-cloud formats are read; anything else is refused by its extension before opening. No output file comes back, only the report.

Questions

What file formats does it read?

PLY and XYZ only. Any other extension is refused by name before the file is opened, since those are the two point cloud formats the shared three.js loader is asked to parse here.

What does it report?

The total point count, whether the file carries per point colour, and the bounding box as a minimum and maximum corner across every point read.

Does it produce an output file?

No. This tool only reads and reports; the numbers feed the orbiting viewer on the page, and nothing is written back or downloaded.

What happens if the file has no points in it?

It refuses with the file name and the message no points found, rather than reporting a bounding box or colour flag from an empty read.

Does it run on the command line?

Yes. It takes a single file and has no browser-only restriction, so the CLI and MCP surfaces run the same count and bounding box code as the page; only the interactive orbit view is specific to the browser.
