HTML entity decode
HTML entity decode. Runs on your device, nothing is uploaded.
HTML entity decode replaces named references such as & and € from a roughly 60-entry table, plus numeric &#NN; and &#xHH; references of any code point, back into their characters. A reference not in that table and not numeric is refused, naming the exact entity and its offset in your text. Anything outside an & ... ; reference passes through completely untouched.
Questions
Which named entities does it recognise?
A table of roughly 60 common ones, amp, lt, gt, quot, euro and similar, not the full HTML5 living-standard list of over 2000.
Does it handle numeric entities?
Yes, both decimal &#NN; and hex &#xHH; references, for any valid code point.
What happens with an unrecognised entity?
The tool refuses, naming the exact entity text and its offset.
What passes through untouched?
Everything outside an & ... ; reference, including plain text and any character that is not part of an entity.
Can I use this from the command line?
Yes, the same code runs on the page, the CLI and MCP.
