Quoted-Printable decode
Quoted-Printable decode. Runs on your device, nothing is uploaded.
Quoted-Printable decode drops soft line breaks, an equals sign right before a newline, then reads every other = as two hex digits following it. An escape whose next two characters are not valid hex is refused and named by its offset. Tabs, spaces and every byte outside an = escape pass through exactly as they arrived, since this encoding leaves them alone.
Questions
How are soft line breaks handled?
A trailing = at the end of a line, followed by a newline, is removed as a soft break rather than kept as literal text.
What happens with a malformed = escape?
The tool refuses, naming the offset of the invalid escape.
What characters pass through untouched?
Printable ASCII except =, plus tab and space, exactly as quoted-printable leaves them.
What is quoted-printable used for?
Encoding mostly-text email bodies (RFC 2045) so they survive transport systems that only handle 7-bit ASCII cleanly.
Can I use this from the command line?
Yes, the same code runs on the page, the CLI and MCP.
