UUID / ULID inspector
Decode a UUID's version, variant, embedded timestamp (v1/v6/v7) and node ID, or a ULID's timestamp and randomness. Pure arithmetic, runs on your device.
UUID / ULID inspector reports a UUID's version and variant, then names the timestamp and node identifier those three newer schemes, versions 1, 6 and 7, carry. A ULID instead shows its own Crockford-base32 timestamp alongside its randomness bytes. Any other UUID version marks its timestamp as not applicable. Text matching neither shape gets refused as unrecognisable.
Questions
What does it show for a UUID?
Its version and variant always, plus an embedded timestamp and node ID for versions 1, 6 and 7.
What about other UUID versions?
Their timestamp is reported as not applicable, since only versions 1, 6 and 7 embed one.
What does it show for a ULID?
Its Crockford-base32 timestamp, decoded to an ISO date and milliseconds since epoch, and its randomness portion as-is.
How does it tell a UUID from a ULID?
By shape: a UUID matches the standard 8-4-4-4-12 hyphenated hex pattern, a ULID matches 26 Crockford-base32 characters starting 0-7.
What if the input matches neither shape?
The tool refuses it as not recognisable.
