PSD to PNG

Export the flattened Photoshop composite as a PNG. The layers do not come across, and the transparency around the artwork does.

PSD to PNG reads the flattened preview Photoshop stores beside the layer stack and writes that as a lossless PNG. Where the canvas was empty the PNG is genuinely clear, so artwork on a transparent background stays that way. Layer names, masks and blend modes are gone before the PNG exists; they were resolved into pixels already.

Questions

Do my Photoshop layers come across?

No. Only the flattened composite Photoshop saves into the file is read, since this pipeline decodes to a single pixel buffer with no concept of layers. If the PSD has no flattened composite because Maximize Compatibility was off when it was saved, the conversion refuses rather than guessing.

What about transparency?

Transparency around the artwork survives. PNG stores the alpha channel exactly as decoded from the composite, so a logo on a transparent background comes out the same way.

Which engine handles this?

ag-psd reads the flattened composite and jSquash encodes the PNG. Both run in Node, on the command line, through MCP and in the browser, with the same Maximize Compatibility requirement on every surface.

What size should I expect?

It depends entirely on the artwork, since PNG is lossless and its size tracks pixel complexity rather than following a fixed rule.

What is the reverse page?

PNG to PSD runs the opposite direction, wrapping the PNG as a single flat layer inside a PSD rather than restoring anything.
