Strip video metadata

Remux a video into a fresh MP4 carrying no title, author, date, GPS or other descriptive tags from the source container. A packet-level copy with no decoding, so this runs in Node, the CLI and MCP as well as the browser.

Input

Strip video metadata rebuilds a clip as a fresh MP4 that leaves out the title, author, date, GPS coordinates and any other descriptive tag from the source. Rotation stays, since it is structural rather than descriptive, so playback keeps the right orientation. Nothing decodes during the rebuild, so it works in Node, the CLI, or MCP.

Questions

What gets removed?

Descriptive tags such as title, author, creation date and GPS location, read from the source container's metadata and left out of the new file entirely.

Does rotation get stripped too?

No. Rotation is kept, since it is structural container information the player needs to show the video the right way up, not a descriptive tag.

Does this re-encode the video?

No. Video and audio packets are copied unchanged into a fresh MP4; only the container level metadata is left out.

What if my file had no metadata to begin with?

The result still writes a clean MP4, and the report says no descriptive tags were present, so you know nothing was removed.

Does this run outside the browser?

Yes. Since nothing is decoded, it runs in Node, on the command line and through MCP as well as on the web page.

Packets are copied straight from the source into a new MP4, so this runs in Node, the CLI and MCP as well as the browser. A packet-level copy, no decoding, so this runs in Node, the CLI and MCP as well as the browser.
