Record webcam
Record a clip from your camera and microphone in the browser, then hand it to video-convert to save it as a real MP4 or WebM. Recording needs getUserMedia and MediaRecorder, both unavailable to a background script, so this only runs from its own page, never the CLI or MCP. Nothing is uploaded.
Record webcam captures video and sound straight from your camera and microphone inside an open page. The clip then passes to Convert video, which writes a finished MP4 or WebM file. Capture depends on getUserMedia and MediaRecorder, neither reachable from a background script. That restriction keeps this tool tied to its own page, out of reach for the command line or MCP.
Questions
What does it capture?
Your camera and microphone together, through the browser's getUserMedia API, after you grant permission and press Start.
What format is the result saved as?
The raw capture is handed to Convert video, which encodes it into a real MP4 or WebM file once you stop recording.
Why can this not run from a script?
Because getUserMedia and MediaRecorder both need an active browser tab and a real user gesture, neither reachable from a background script, the CLI or MCP.
Is the recording sent to a server while I record?
No. Capture and conversion both happen inside the page you have open, with no server step at any point.
What if I only want audio, not video?
Use Record voice instead, which captures the microphone alone rather than camera and microphone together.
